New measures for Madrid 360: these will be the changes that affect mobility.

  • The Governing Board approves the Madrid 360 Sustainable Mobility Plan
  • The document is structured in ten strategic lines with more than 120 actions
  • There are still arguments to be resolved for final approval

"Fewer accidents, fewer emissions, less traffic congestion, better public transportation and better air quality." These are the five pillars on which a battery of measures are based , proposed by the Madrid City Council, which will be applied in the capital if they are finally approved.

These plans would be framed within the new Madrid 360 Sustainable Mobility Plan (PMS) . The PMS already brings together other important measures, such as the Sustainable Mobility Ordinance, the EMT Strategic Plan or the Air Quality and Sustainability Ordinance.

As explained by the municipal government spokesperson, Inmaculada Sanz , the period for public information is now open and, after resolving the allegations that are presented, it will return to the Governing Board for final approval.

What does the new PMS intend

As described by the City Council, the PMS aims to promote sustainable, safe, efficient and healthy mobility .

Thus, it has set itself the challenge of reducing the time spent on public transport trips by 32.5% on average , of reducing traffic by up to 10%, of reducing CO2 emissions by 65% in 2030 compared to 1990 , to comply with the European air quality directive and to achieve a 50% decrease in fatalities and serious casualties on the road.

    What measures do you propose?

Regarding public transport, the City Council intends to promote the use of the bus, expanding the network of bus lanes to 250 kilometers in 2030. It also wants to implement new zero-emission lines in neighborhoods and areas with restricted access. Finally, it intends to create green corridors with the aim of reaching 60 km green in 2025.

32% of the EMT fleet will be zero emissions by 2027 and the change in technology for private vehicles and taxis will be promoted through the Cambia 360 grants.
